Best NGL prompts for Instagram (that actually get answers)
Prompts are everything. The exact same anonymous-question link gets 10Γ more responses with a good prompt versus a bad one. Here are the prompts that consistently perform best on Instagram and TikTok.
The top 5, ranked
- "ask me anything π" β the classic. Works because the emoji signals openness and the brevity makes it easy to engage.
- "send me your most unhinged take" β high engagement because it gives senders permission to be funny rather than serious.
- "be brutally honest, what's my biggest flaw" β works because it gives anonymous senders permission to say the thing they've been holding.
- "who's your celeb crush rn" β light, low-stakes, very replayable as a story.
- "send your worst red flag" β confessional but fun.
Why these work
Every high-performing prompt does at least one of these three things:
- Gives permission. "Be brutally honest" tells the sender it's OK to say the harsh thing.
- Adds a personality cue. An emoji, a slang word, a "tea" or "ick" framing makes the prompt feel like part of a conversation rather than a survey.
- Promises a reply. "I'll answer everything" or showing past replies on your story tells senders the question won't disappear into the void.
For longer story chains
If you're doing a story series (Q&A across multiple slides), use a layered prompt:
- slide 1: "ask me anything"
- slide 2 (after a few questions): "even spicier π"
- slide 3 (later): "last chance β anonymous"
This increases volume over time because the audience watches each slide and is reminded the link is still open.
